Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of conveyor shifting dozer operations including:

applying safe work practices and identifying and reporting all potential hazards, risks and environmental issues

conducting prestart checks prior to commencing operations and shutdown procedures on completion of operations

carrying out vehicle refuelling requirements and procedures

using relevant tools

identifying conveyor systems

adjusting driving and operations techniques to avoid hazards and employing necessary hazard control measures

applying problem solving and troubleshooting techniques

works effectively with others to undertake and complete conveyor shifting dozer operations that meets all of the required outcomes including:

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

demonstrates completion of conducting conveyor shifting dozer operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

manoeuvring the dozer safely and smoothly to shift conveyor singularly and/or with other machines in small passes while:

monitoring the shift for damage to rail and fish plates

maintaining communication with other machines and conveyor shift supervisor

adjusting operating techniques in extreme conditions to ensure safety of plant and personnel, and take necessary hazard control measures

fitting a different attachment, from the list below, to the dozer on each of the three (3) separate occasions:

roller heads

ropes

shackles

winch

tow

safely park up, shutdown, inspect and clean the dozer


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when conducting conveyor shifting dozer operations:

identifying equipment processes, technical capability and limitations

identifying, interpreting and using geological and technical data (basic)

identifying and complying with hazardous goods procedures (handling and transport)

communicating and performing isolation procedures

using mine operational systems

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency

identifying signs of operator fatigue and how it should be managed

applying operational, maintenance and basic diagnostics

completing housekeeping activities
